Standards: how Today's number is chosen
Today's number is one figure from the market or the economy, shown with the Morning Brief on each trading day. It describes what is happening. It is not a signal to buy or sell anything.
How candidates are chosen. Each trading morning, AI proposes three candidates from the day's sourced data. Between them they cover at least two of six kinds of figure: market breadth (how many shares rose and fell), money flows, the count of company results, an economic data release, a fact about one company, and a count of events.
What is left out. Our software removes figures about traders' positions in futures and options, price levels, and any figure without a point of comparison. The same kind of figure does not run three trading days in a row when another approved candidate is available.
Who decides. AI writes the words for each candidate. An EQSIS analyst picks one and approves it before 8:30 am IST. If no analyst has approved a number by then, no number is shown, and a notice says so.
What comes with it. Each number shows its source and time, what it means, what it does not tell you, and which story in the edition it connects to. Some figures, such as the count of shares that rose, change during the day. Those show the time they were counted, and the final count comes from the exchange after the close.
