Investment is buying shares and holding it for a long period of time. The shares get credited in our demat account

Trading is buying and selling shares for a short period of time. This is generally done in Futures & Options. We dont own the asset/shares here.

Buying and holding stocks for a longer period is investment. Buying and selling in short intervals so as to earn profit in a short span of time is called trading.

Investments is long term whereas Trading is short term . That is , buying a share and holding it for a long period and earning comes under Investment , while buying and selling shares withing a short span of time comes under Trading.
