Why do we need to close the intraday position on the same day? Is it mandate?

In Long position – For a spot market ,It may or may not be closed if we are doing trade within the available money at our broker. Even if we are using the margin money (which some brokers allow ) then also it has to closed or extra money arising out of that trade has to be deposited with the broker

Short position – For a spot market, the trade has to be closed by the end of the day . Otherwise the broker will charge penalty for that .

Generally the intra day trade involves good volume hence all the positions has to be closed within the same day
