Long position- it is a position where the trader buys the stock first expecting the market to go up and sells it at a later point of time to book the profits.

Short position- it is a position where the trader sells the stock first expecting the market to go down and buys it later at a lower price to book the profits.

Long unwinding- it is the position where the trader closes the long position by executing a sell order.

Short covering- it is the position where the trader closes the short position by executing a buy order.

Long position – When I buy the stock for the first time when the price is going up, plans to hold for some time and sell it later when the price is high

Short position – When the price goes down sell the stock now and buy it later when the prices are still lower and makes profit out of it.

Long unwinding – Closes the long position stock by sell order

short covering –  Buying the stock when the prices are still lower and cover the position before the end of the day to avoid penalty.
