The purpose of stock market is to enable the buyers and sellers of stock to trade. The exchanges helped the traders to come to a common place / platform to carry out their trading activities. Each exchange will have a number of brokers registered with them. An investor can only trade with an exchange through their broker. The brokers are required for the stock exchange to control the counter party risk. SEBI is the board that regulates all these market players and ensure the activities are transparent.
