Split makes the share certificate into smaller. The face value reduced, so instead of one you may have Two. if its is 1:2
Why Split? It is just for the sake of convenience. Sometime Rs.100 Currency Note is convenient that Rs.2000
Even i have no idea why the Eicher motor or MRF have not split their shares yet.
But the share split are not going tho increase or decrease the wealth of the share holder.
