A gap occurs when the stock opens with a gap in price with respect its closing price. Four types of gap with different characteristics. Area gap occurs in a non trending area. Breakout appears with high volume outside the trading range upwards. Runaway gap occurs when as share runs away upwards after a break out.
Exhaustion is a termination of a gap cycle where the gap is covered within a day or two.
