Stock market is the place where the shares of public listed companies are traded.
Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is the regulator of the securities market in India. Its primary role is to protect the interest of investors, in securities and to promote the development of, and to regulate the securities market. IPO – Initial Public Offering. A private company raises its capital by giving the ownership to the public.
Process: Firms which want to go public, will make a proposal to SEBI to get their company listed in the stock exchanges. SEBI will review the proposal and grant/reject the request.
