    Role : 1. To protect the investors .

    2. To promote the development of stock exchange and to regulate the activities of stock market.

    3. For example SEBI looks after the complaints received from investors for fair settlement , it also issue for the guidance and protection of small investors.

    SEBI is a regulatory body which keeps a check on the exchange and intermediaries like brokers, merchant bankers. It regulates all the activities performed by the above to reduce any fraudulent practices.
