Long: Buying the share with the intention of selling it later when the market is in Bullish trend.
Short: Selling the share even though we didnāt own any of that share.
Long unwinding: Selling shares that we bought long ago
Short Covering: Buying the shares which we sold on same day to get the position before market closes.
Terms:
Long: Buying an stock, when we expect the price to go up, holding it for awhile and selling it later.
Short: Selling the stock which you don’t own and buyback later. when we expect the price of the particular stock to go down we sell an particular stock and buying back before the settlement.
Long unwinding: Is the process of selling the stock bought on long position.
Short covering : Is the term used for completing the short posting trading. i.e Sell now and buyback before the settlement.
Long: buy the stock, hold and sell later
Short: sell the stock with out having in your demat a/c and buy before settlement.
Long Unwinding: stock will be considered when both price and open interest goes down.
Short covering: stock will be considered when the prices goes up and open interest goes down
Long :buy shares and sell it after some time. (Bullish trend)
Short:sell shares first and buy back after some time. (Bearish trend )
Long unwinding :exiting long position by selling the share.
Shortcovering:exiting short position by buying the shares back.
long position is when you buy stocks for the first time with the intention of selling them later for a profit. short position is when you capitalise on the downward trend of a particular stock by selling the Ā stocks you dont own but buy them before settlement time.
selling the stocks bought in long position is long unwinding. buying the stocks sold Ā in short position is short covering.
