Fundamental analysis is the analysis of a company with different data points, like the demand for the product, profit/loss, capital, cash flow, revenue, debts, policies affecting the company, etc., which helps to determine the worth of the company. These data points will vary with each company and each sector.
In technical analysis we study the market instead of the company. The input for technical analysis are price of the stock and the volume traded, from which we can derive the demand and supply for that stock. From demand and supply we can infer the direction of stock.
Retail traders concentrate on Technical analysis as they do not have the time and resources to conduct Fundamental analysis of companies.
