    The gap can be found in candle stick charts.

    It is basically the difference between the previous day closing and present day opening.

    Gap analysis indicates the strength of the trend. It occurs due a sudden surprise  over a day. Gap is usually defined at the ratio of present day opening to the prior day closing.
