In this the negative candle is not fully covered by the positive candle. If this is the case can we consider it to be engulfing pattern.
Even if we consider it to be engulfing, then it should be bullish engulfing not bearish. I think it is typo error in the post.

Though, it did not match the theory.

IMHO, Two things – it was the strength of the candle and the volume – makes the thing work here.
