Stock trading taken place in the Stock exchanges. Stock exchanges cant regulate each buyers and sellers, so they deal with brokers only. Brokers are intermediaries who is managing the traders account. On behalf of trader, broker can place the order. SEBI regulates Stock exchanges and the brokers and the companies who are listed in the stock exchanges. Stock exchanges deals with Brokers. Broker should give the Caution deposit to the stock exchanges. Hence stock exchanges handles the risk through the broker’s caution deposit.
Long – Buy a stock at a specified price
Long unwinding – Sell a stock after buy the same stock
Short – Sell a stock
Short covering – Buy a stock after selling the stock.
