    to renounce or relinquish a throne,claim responsibility or like especially in a formal manner.

    Take financial mgt for eg, too many business owners want someone else to take on that role leaving them free to focus the fun stuff of running the .but if u hand iff a task or a function to an employee completely remove yourself from the picture, you are merely abdicating ur role as business owner.
