We need to close on the same day since the name itself suggests Intraday, it is done to gain profit/loss with in the day as it is spot market.
But it is not mandatory, if you trade on same it is treated as Intraday otherwise positional.
The positional analytical methods are for positional traders who hold the stock for a minimum period of a week, whereas in intraday due to frequent price fluctuations and immediate within day settlement it is not possible to follow positional analytical methods.
Global market plays a important role in intra day price market because it decides the extent of FII participation for a day in Indian market.
