On a technical analysis chart, a gap represents an area where no trading takes place means a market gap is the difference between the closing price of one period and the opening price of the next period. Market gaps are most often created between trading sessions, such as during the night or over the weekend. Gap is the yesterday closing price is the today opening price of share is gap analysis. Gap is strength of market.
There are area GAP, breakout GAP, runaway GAP and exhaustion GAP.
Area GAP always appears in non-trending zone, range bound or sideways movement It takes place when selling pressure exists in that particular area. This GAP is most likely to get filled in the near term. The volume during the gap day is generally low or average.
A breakaway gap occurs when the price gaps above resistance or gaps below support. Support or resistance, in this case, is often associated with a chart pattern, such as a trading range, triangle, wedge, or other patterns. Breakaway gaps are also typically associated with confirming a new trend. A breakaway gap with larger than average volume, or especially high volume, shows strong conviction in the gap direction. A volume increase on a breakout gap helps confirm that the price is likely to continue in the breakout direction. If the volume is low on a breakaway gap there is a greater chance of failure.
It appears in the runaway area after the breakout region with significant volume. It may extend the rally. It shouldn’t be filled.
It appears in the trending area like runaway. Opens high level. But by the end of the day it covers all the gap and closes in low level. It indicates the termination of the trend. It is difficult to spot because gap will not be visible.
