IPO is Initial Public Offer. When a company decides to open it’s share to public to increase the investment capital, the same is done through advertisement. Public can apply for shares through Primary Market the very first time and this is called IPO.

Earlier the process of applying for IPO was to purchase applications and get shares, now it can be done online as well.

IPO is nothing but initial public offer. Generally any company in need of huge funds for expansion or new business model and out of other avenues to raise funds, would plan to go for public. They would advertise their IPO in printed and other medias to reach out public. Whoever apply for the IPO would be allotted shares on prorate basis.
