    No, we cannot buy share(s) of a market index

    Yes, we can use future, options to trade them.

    We cannot trade NIFTY, SENSEX, because they are not shares, but they are index.

    NIFTY and SENSEX are not shares that can be bought or sold, but their index values that can be bought and sold in future and options as trade.

    <span style=”color: #3b3a39; font-family: Georgia, ‘Times New Roman’, Times, serif; font-size: 14px;”>Buying and selling the same asset across two different markets like BSE and Nifty, profiting from the price difference  is possible . This is called Arbitrage. There as many such traders using automated algorithmic software to find these price differences and make a profit. </span>
