Technical indicators are ready made analysis which uses algorithms to help understand the price movement.  Whereas price patterns uses price and volume to do the analysis with the help of charts. Indicators  are to used to support and confirm your decision made with the help of price patterns but you should not make a decision only based on the indicators.

Technical indicators are the algorithmic tool derived based on the price movements.

Its a supportive tool for the traders to confirm the direction of price movement. its not for the decision making.
