A person who deals in stocks is a stock trader. Unlike this a person who invests in stocks for the long term is an investor. A stock trader will buy and sell shares based on his analysis of the charts. These charts will enable him to know the volumes and demand and supply. A trader will usually trade in stocks both in cash or future markets. He could also participate in the derivatives market.
