Closing Bell: Nifty Resumes Rally After One Day Break

The broader NSE Nifty settled at a new closing peak at 11,945, gaining 84 points on Thursday. Domestic benchmark index Nifty resumed its up move on derivatives expiry day after a day’s pause in the previous session. Rally in today’s session was fuelled by gains in IT and banking stocks.

The Nifty sectoral indices traded mixed in the day. Nifty Fin Service Index was the top gainer among the indices, up 1.16 per cent followed by IT and other banking indices, while Auto Index was top loser, which fell 0.56 per cent.

Market Update: Nifty extend the gain in the afternoon trade 

The domestic share index nifty continued to rally in afternoon trade. At about 12.45 pm, the NSE Nifty was up 82 points or 0.70 per cent at 11,943. On the Nifty 35 stocks advanced against 15 that declined.

Gains in NTPC, Yes Bank, Bharti Airtel, TCS, Reliance and HDFC pushed up Nifty.  Among the NSE sectoral indices, IT and Finance were the top gainers. Meanwhile, Auto, metal and media indices were trading in the red.

Morning Update: Nifty above 11,900 ahead of F&O expiry

 The 50-share NSE index Nifty were trading 46 points higher at 11,907 against the previous close of 11,861. Benchmark index nifty were trading on a positive note led by gains in index heavyweights TCS, RIL and ITC, ahead of expiration of May series Futures & Options (F&O) contracts.

Buying interest in information technology, energy and state-run banking stocks supported the markets while auto and metal stocks are showing minor signs of pressure.

Bhati Airtel, NTPC, TCS, YES Bank, Asian Paint and UPL were the top gainers on Nifty50 index, while Eicher Motors, M&M, Sun Pharma, Adani Ports and Cipla led the losses.
