Closing Bell: Nifty stages late recovery but ends on a negative note

The NSE Nifty 50 Index declined 6 points at 11,748 on Tuesday. Benchmark index Nifty ended lower after a volatile trading session on the back of buying seen in the last hour of trade. Meanwhile, Asian markets witnessed heavy sell-off after the announcement of weak Chinese trade data.

Among the sectors, Nifty PSU bank declined more than 3 percent followed by realty, auto, FMCG, pharma and banking, while some buying seen in the IT, media and metal indices.

Domestic financial market will remain closed on Wednesday, 1 May 2019, on account of Maharashtra Day.

Market Update: Nifty stocks logged losses in afternoon trade

The Nifty at the National Stock were trading 47 points lower at 11,709. Key equity index Nifty were lost around half a percent dragged by Yes Bank Ltd after the private-sector lender posted its first quarterly loss due to a surge in provisions for bad loans. Among other losers, shares of motorcycle maker Hero MotoCorp Ltd dropped as much as 3.6 percent to their lowest level since March 2016, after it reported weak quarterly results on Friday.

Morning Update: Nifty Slide In Morning Trade; Yes Bank Plunges 27%

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) traded 93 points lower at 11,663 points. The key Indian equity index Nifty traded in the red during the morning session on Tuesday as heavy selling took place in automobile, banking and realty stocks amid mixed Asian markets.

Among sectoral indices, Nifty PSU Bank index and Nifty Private Bank index were the biggest losers, down 3.77 per cent and 1.92 per cent, respectively.

Yes Bank, IndusInd Bank and India bull housing finance were the top contributors to the declines on Nifty.
