Closing Bell: Nifty End Marginally Lower on F&O Expiry

The broader NSE Nifty slipped 19 points to end at 11,252. During the day, the index touched a high of 11,361.4 and a low of 11,239.3. Domestic equity benchmark index nifty fell for the sixth straight session amid high volatility as July derivative contracts expired

Sectorally, most of the indices ended in the green barring auto, metal and public sector bank indices. Nifty Pharma index gained the most and ended the day with gains of 2.31 per cent. On the flipside, Nifty Metal Index was top loser, down 0.98 percent.

Shares of Tata Motors, the country’s top automaker by revenue, slid 4.6% ahead of its quarterly results.

Market Update: Nifty pare gains; breadth turns negative

The Nifty 50 index was down 10 points or 0.10% at 11,260. The Nifty was trading below 11,300 mark after crossing that level in early trade. Benchmark index Nifty opened higher and hit fresh intraday high in morning trade then market breadth turns negative territory in the afternoon session.

The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, turned negative from positive. On NSE, 990 shares rose and 730 shares fell. A total of 102 shares were unchanged.

Morning Update: Nifty around 11350; Finance & Pharma stocks surge

The broader Nifty surged 64 points to 11,335 on Thursday.  Indian headline index nifty were trading higher for first time in 6 days, led by gains in financials and pharma stocks, ahead of July expiry of futures and options contracts. HDFC twins, Infratel, Cipla and Sun Pharma, Infosys, IndusInd Bank and Axis Bank are among the top contributors to the index gains, while gains were capped for Tata Motors, IOC, Coal India, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Tech Mahindra.
