Closing Bell: Nifty hits 12,000 mark for the first ever after the outcome of Lok Sabha elections 2019 

The NSE Nifty was down by 80 points at 11,657 level on Thursday. Domestic equity index nifty50 plunged into losses after hitting all time high as investors indulged in profit-booking amid Lok Sabha election counting suggested second-term for Narendra Modi as India’s prime minister.

Globally, Asian markets finished broadly lower today. Meanwhile, Indices in Europe were also trading on a negative note.

Sector Watch

Among the sectors, Nifty FMCG declined more than 1.5 percent followed by metal, banking and IT, while some buying seen in the media and realty indices.

Nifty Top Gainers/Losers

The top Nifty gainers included Adani Ports, IndusInd Bank, Zee Entertainment, Grasim and Cipla while the top losers are Vedanta, ITC, Eicher Motors, HDFC Bank and Hindalco Industries.

Market Update: Nifty pair gains

The NSE Nifty were trading at 11,858, up 118 points. The benchmark index nifty pared gains on Thursday afternoon session, but were holding on to their gains. Among Nifty50 stocks, Adani Ports is the top gainer, up 7.57% followed by Yes Bank, Zell, IndusInd Bank, Grasim and BPCL. Out of the 50 stocks in Nifty, 35 are in the green while 15 are in the red.

Morning Update: Nifty hit record highs amid the counting of votes for the 2019 Lok Sabha election

The NSE Nifty were trading at 11,936, up 203 points higher on Thursday. The benchmark NSE Nifty spurted higher following heavy buying from domestic financial institutions amid the counting of votes for the 2019 Lok Sabha election.

Sectorally, all the indices on NSE were trading with solid gains with Nifty PSU gains advancing the most, followed by other banking indices.

Banking stocks led the gains with Nifty Bank index rising over 2%. IndusInd Bank surged nearly 7% each while SBI, PNB, Yes Bank and ICICI Bank were up 3% to 4.5%.
