Closing Bell: Nifty ends below 10,850-mark on last hour sell-off

Indian benchmark index NSE Nifty50 was closed lower by 91 points at 10,831. Domestic equity market Nifty dropped sharply lower in late trading to close nearly 1 percent lower and settled below 10,850 mark. FMCG index plunge over 1.5% led by ITC which fell 4.30% followed by McDowell, UBL, and Dabur while Nifty media was the outer performer of the day and ended the session 1.30% higher.

Asian indices ended on a mixed note as investors sentiment uncertainty about the chances of success in China-US trade talks on next week.

Market Update: Nifty trading in a narrow range amid weak global cues

A benchmark index of the Indian equities markets, the 50-scrip NSE Nifty were trading in a flat range 10 points lower at 10,917  on Tuesday amid weak global cues. Good buying was observed in metal and media sectors while selling pressure was seen in banking and finance sectors. The market breadth was narrow with 826 shares advancing, 837 shares declining, and 411 remaining unchanged.
