Closing Bell: Nifty End Range-bound Session Modestly Lower

The broader Nifty index dropped 18 points to 11,575 on Tuesday. Indian equity index Nifty ended a range-bound session modestly lower amid rising crude oil prices, Q4 results, ahead of F&O expiry. From the Nifty 50 basket of shares 28 closed lower which 22 shares ended higher. 

Sector Watch

The Nifty Auto index declined 1.5% on Tuesday led by sharp fall in Maruti, Hero MotoCorp, Motherson Sumi Systems and Mahindra & Mahindra.

Nifty FMCG and Nifty IT ended the day in the green while Pharma stocks outperformed during the day with Lupin and Sun Pharma rose 3% and 3.9% respectively.

Market Update: Nifty range-bound; banking, media, pharma up

The NSE Nifty index were trading 31 points up at 11,636 on Tuesday. The benchmark index Nifty pared losses to trade higher, led by gains in banking, media and pharma stocks.

The top gainers of the NSE Nifty pack were Zee Entertainment Enterprises, India bulls Housing Finance, ONGC, Sun pharma among others. While Bharti Airtel, Gail, NTPC, BPCL and Mahindra and Mahindra are among the top losers for today’s trading session.

Morning Update: Nifty turned negative after opening higher

The benchmark index Nifty were trading 5 points lower at 11598 on Tuesday. Key equity index Nifty pare opening gains to turn range-bound in the morning deal amid rising crude oil prices, Q4 results, ahead of F&O expiry. Nifty media was the top forming sectors up over 1 percent in the morning session including gains was visible in pharma and banking sectors while IT and auto are showing minor signs of pressure.

The market breadth was tilted in favour of buyers. About 829 stocks advanced and 677 shares declined on National Stock Exchange.
