Closing Bell: Geopolitical tensions keep Indian market on its toes
The broader NSE index closed down 107 points at 11,724 level. The Indian headline index Nifty ended in the negative zone on Friday dragged by auto, banking and pharma stocks, amid rising geopolitical tension between the US and Iran and Sino-US tariff tension. On NSE, except for Nifty PSU Bank, all other sub-indices witnessed losses with Nifty Pharma index took the hardest knock (-1.46%).
On a weekly basis, the Nifty50 slipped 0.84 per cent and settled below 11750 mark.
UPL, Tech Mahindra, India bulls Housing, Hindalco and State Bank of India were among the top gainers on the Nifty50, whereas Yes Bank, Maruti, HDFC, Coal India and Hero Moto Corp led the losses.
Market Update: Nifty below 11,800 mark; Yes Bank, Maruti top losers
The NSE Nifty continued to trade lower in the noon session. At about 12.45 pm, the broad-based Nifty was below 11,800-levels down 62 points at 11,768 level. On NSE, except for Nifty PSU Bank, all other sub-indices were trading in red with Nifty IT leading the pack, down 1.32 percent.
Yes Bank, Maruti, Infratel, Sun Pharma, HDFC and Drreddy majorly contributed to the losses in Nifty.

Morning Update: Nifty trade lower as asian stocks fail to catch Fed-fuelled Wall Street rally
The broader Nifty50 index lost 47 points at 11,781. The Indian headline index Nifty were trading marginally lower on Friday morning following mixed Asia peers amid US-China trade tensions and rise in crude oil prices despite a record rally in US stocks. All sectoral indices were trading in red in the morning session. The Nifty Realty and Nifty Pharma indices fell the most, down 1.3 percent each followed by the Nifty Auto, Nifty Media and all banking indices.
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was weak. On NSE, 655 shares rose and 865 shares fell. A total of 98 shares were unchanged.
FII & DII data
The foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 22.58 crore on a net basis, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 1241.23 crore as on Jun 20th 2019.
