Closing Bell:  Nifty settled above 11,500 mark boosted by gains in IT and financial stocks

The benchmark index Nifty-50 closed 70 points higher at 11,532 on Tuesday, extending gains for the seventh session on the back of sustained foreign fund inflows while Asian markets finished mixed as of the most recent closing prices ahead of the two-day US Fed meeting which starts later today. Among sectors, except for Nifty PSU Bank, all other sub-indices were ended in green with Nifty PSU Banks rose the most, up nearly 2 percent followed by Nifty IT, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Realty.

Market Update: Nifty Rally In Afternoon Trade

The NSE index Nifty was trading at 11,510, higher by 48 points on Tuesday’s afternoon session. Among the sectoral indices, the PSU Bank stocks were trading higher by 2.46 per cent, followed by Pharma, Media and FMCG stocks while the Nifty Auto index were trading lower 0.8% led by Eicher Motors, Heromotor Corp and Ashok leyland.

The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was strong. On NSE, 996 shares rose and 793 shares fell. A total of 93 shares were unchanged.

Morning Update: Nifty trade flat; auto stocks down         

The benchmark index Nifty were trading 8 points higher at 11,468 on Tuesday. Benchmark equity index Nifty were trading tepid note in the morning session as investors await the outcome of the 34th GST Council meeting to be held later today. Among the sectoral indices, auto index is under pressure with 1 percent cut, followed by IT and metal, while some buying is seen in the realty, PSU bank and Pharma sector.
