Closing Bell: Nifty end in red after last hour sell-off

The 50-stock Nifty nosedived 65 points and closed at 11,157 levels. The benchmark index nifty succumbed to the final-hour selling pressure after trading in the green for the better part of Wednesday’s session amid ahead of key election results due next week. All sectoral indices, except Nifty Realty and Nifty IT, ended the day in the red.

Yes Bank, Tata Motors, Zee Entertainment, JSW Steel, IndusInd Bank, GAIL India, Coal India and Grasim Industries were also among the losers.

On the other hand, Bajaj Finance, Eicher Motors, UPL, IOC, Bajaj Finserv and Kotak Mahindra Bank were among the gainers.

Market Update: Nifty around 11,250 mark

The NSE Nifty was up 32 points to 11,254. The benchmark index nifty continue to trade on a positive note amid tracking cues from global markets after US President Donald Trump hinted at the possibility of a trade deal with China in the future. Except Media and PSU bank, all the other Nifty indices are trading in the green.

Morning Update: Nifty hovers around 11,250 mark; IT, Banking stocks advance

The NSE Nifty were trading 26 points higher at 11,249. Key equity index Nifty were trading higher on Wednesday’s morning session, tracking a recovery in Asian markets on hopes of easing US-China trade concerns. Most of the sectoral indices were trading higher, with gains visible among IT, banking and metal stocks was offset by losses in media and PSU Bank stocks.

The market breadth was tilted in favour of buyers. About 928 stocks advanced and 544 stocks declined on National Stock Exchange.
