PAGEIND plunged by 8.42% and finished at Rs. 21971.1. Trading volume rose by 288 percent. There could be negative breakout. Derivative traders were aggressive in adding short positions. Closing Bell: Nifty ends slightly lower after volatile trading session

Indian benchmark index NSE Nifty50 was closed lower by 21 points at 10,724 on Friday. Domestic equity key index Nifty ended in the negative terrain for the seventh straight session despite witnessing a bounce back in the last hour trading session. All sectoral indices close in the red while Pharma index contributed the major loss which fell over 3 percent led by losses in Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd dropped 6.47%, Lupin Ltd shed 4.47% and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories  Ltd slipped 4.17%.

Globally, Asian markets finished sharply lower as Investors were cautious ahead of a meeting between the US and China in Beijing as the world’s two largest economies would try to resolve the ongoing tariff tiff.

On a weekly basis, NSE Nifty fell 219.20 points or 2 per cent.

Market Update: Nifty extend losses; All sectoral indices trade in red 

The benchmark index NSE Nifty 50 Index declined 102 points to 10,642 on Friday. Indian equity index Nifty fell over 100 points in the afternoon session. Most of the pharma stocks were trading in the negative zone, shares of top loser in the index, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Limited and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited cracked over 6 per cent. On the sectoral front, automobiles, metals, Banking, FMCG, and Finance were down 2-1%, respectively.

Morning Update: Nifty Near 10,700 dragged by pharma and metal stocks

The benchmark index NSE Nifty50 were trading at 10,707 with a loss of 38 points on Friday. Domestic equity market fell for the sixth day in a row and now trading near 10,700 mark tracking weak global cues. All the sectoral indices on the NSE were trading in the red. Nifty Pharma and Media indices, which fell over 2% percent led by losses in Glenmark, Divis Lab, PEL, Network18, Suntv, and Zeel. The market breadth was tilted in favour of sellers. About 616 stocks advanced and 902 shares declined on National Stock Exchange.

Shares of ONGC jumped 5% after the company reported a 65% yoy increase in net profit to Rs8,262.70cr.
