Closing Bell: NIFTY recoverd nearly 100 points from day’s low & end’s flat on weekly expiry day

Indian equity benchmark NIFTY gained 0.07% and closed at 11914 on Thursday. The NSE Nifty 50 Index gained nearly 100 points from the day’s low and ended flat above 11,900 mark as investors took cues from the european markets which opened broadly positive despite weak asian markets.

Seven out of 11 sectoral gauges compiled by NSE ended lower, led by the losses in Nifty PSU Bank. On the flipside, the Nifty Media Index was the top sectoral gainer.

From the NIFTY 50 basket of shares IBULHSGFIN, ZEEL, BPCL, GRASIM and KOTAKBANK outperformed as top gainers while YESBANK, INDUSINDBK, UPL, IOC and MARUTI are top losers.

Market Update: NIFTY fell below 10,850 mark

Indian equity benchmarks fell nearly 80 points and trading below 10,850 mark on Thursday. The investors sentiment impacted by mixed macro-economic data and subdued global markets. 

On the sectoral front, all the major indices are trading in the red, led by heavy selling interest in Financial Services and Banking stocks.

The market breadth was tilted in favour of sellers. About 37 stocks fell and 13 shares advanced on NIFTY50.
