Closing Bell: Nifty loses over 1.5%, Auto & Financial Shares Worst Hit
The 50-stock Nifty slipped below the psychological 11,000 levels and closed at 10,925 levels after losing 183 points. Indian benchmark index nifty ended deep in the red on Tuesday ahead of key retail or consumer price-based inflation data amid a selloff in global markets.
Auto stocks went across heavy selloff in today’s session as the NSE Auto index went down around 4 per cent followed by Nifty IT lost 2.5 percent and Nifty Fin Services slipped 3 percent for the day.
Cinema chains Inox Leisure and PVR were also under pressure after Reliance Industries proposed a plan of bringing ‘first-day first show’ movies on its Fibre powered set-top box.
Bank Nifty opened negative and remained under pressure throughout the session, as it wiped out the gains of previous two sessions. It formed a bearish candle on the daily scale and fell by around 700 points to close below 27,750 marks.

Morning Update: Nifty Slips Below 11,100-Mark Amid Selling Across Most Sectors
The broader Nifty50 index slumped 40 points to 11,070 levels. Domestic equity index nifty were trading lower amid weakness in Asian peers. All the Nifty sectoral indices except metal, media, realty were trading in the red. Nifty IT, down over 1.8 per cent, took the deepest cut, followed by Nifty Auto index which was down 1.5 per cent.
India bulls Housing, Reliance Industries, BPCL, Tata Motors and Sun Pharma are some of the major gainers on the Nifty index, while losers are NTPC, Bharti Airtel, Britannia Industries, Vedanta, M&M, Power Grid and Tech Mahindra.
Reliance Industries zoomed as much as 8 per cent on the NSE after the company, at its annual general meeting (AGM) on Monday, announced that Saudi Aramco has signed a letter of intent for a proposed investment in RIL’s oil-to-chemical division. The deal is likely to fetch $15 billion (~1.06 trillion) for a 20 per cent stake.
The rupee, meanwhile, depreciated 30 paise against its previous close to trade at 71.08 in the morning session.
