Closing Bell: Nifty snaps 3-day rally; auto, bank, IT, pharma stocks plunge

The broader NSE Nifty closed 59 points lower at 11,906 levels. The NSE Nifty 50 Index snapped three sessions of gains to settle lower as auto, Information technology, Capital goods, pharma and banking sector shares came under selling pressure ahead of the release of key macroeconomic data on industrial growth and inflation. Meanwhile, Asian markets finished broadly lower today as worries over the US-China trade tariff wars resurfaced.

Sector Watch

Nine out of 11 sectoral gauges compiled by NSE advanced, led by the NSE Nifty Realty Index’s 2 percent decline followed by banking, auto and pharma indices. On the flipside, the NSE Nifty Metal Index was the top sectoral gainer, up 0.39 percent.

Best And Worst Nifty 50 Performers Today

Among the Nifty50, the leading stocks are Tata Steel, GAIL and ONGC, while losers are Sun Pharma and the losers are Indiabulls Housing, Yes Bank and Bharti Infratel.

Market Update: Nifty below 11,900 mark; all sectoral indices in red except metals

The NSE Nifty 50 Indexes extended losses dragged by weakness in auto, finance and pharma stocks. The NSE Nifty 50 Index fell below important level of 11,900 and currently trading 584 points lower at 11879 level. Among the sectors, except metal all other indices are trading lower led by IT, pharma, auto, bank and infra.

Pharma shares was under focus as the NSE Nifty Pharma Index fell over 1 percent, led by the declines in Biocon Ltd, Piramal Enterprises, Cadila Health Care and Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.

The market breadth was tilted in favour f sellers. About 1093 stocks fell and 653 shares advanced on National Stock Exchange.

Morning Update: Nifty trade lower ahead of macroeconomic data release

The NSE Nifty index moved to 11,906, down 59 points from the previous close. Indian benchmark index nifty were trading lower on Wednesday as investors remain cautious ahead of CPI and IIP data. Meanwhile, Asian market were trading lower today as the US-China trade tariff war concerns weighed down sentiments.

On the sectoral front, except Media and Metal, all the major indices are trading in the red, led by pressured selling interest in Financial Services, IT, Banking and Realty stocks.

Losers/Gainers

 India bulls Housing Finance, YES Bank, Infratel, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj-Auto, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra and TCS were among the top losers of the morning trading session while, Tata Steel, Vedanta, Sun Pharma, Gail, Hindalco and JSW Steel were among the top gainers in the trading platforms.
