Closing Bell: Nifty end lower after last hour selloff
The NSE Nifty was down by 30 points at 11,552, at the closing bell. Benchmark index nifty ended with losses, dragged down by financial stocks, on Friday due to last hour sell-off after a volatile session. Investors remained cautious ahead of key retail inflation and industrial production data due later today.
Sectoral indices ended mixed for the day. The Nifty Bank, the Nifty Fin Services and the Nifty Private Bank indices each ended around 0.4 percent lower. Meanwhile, the Nifty Metal rose the most, up 0.6 percent followed by Pharma, Media and Realty indices.
In the post-Budget week, the Nifty dropped 258.65 points or 2.18 per cent.
Meanwhile, Asian markets were also subdued as investors stayed on the side-lines after concerns over US-China trade tensions resurfaced.

Market Update: Nifty trade choppy
The broader Nifty50 index was ruling at 11,586 levels, up 4 points or 0.03 per cent. Benchmark index Nifty continued to consolidate in afternoon deals as traders remained cautious ahead of June CPI inflation and May factory data due later today.
Sectoral indices on NSE are trading with mixed sentiments wherein Nifty Metal is the top gainer followed by media, realty and pharma, while banking sectors were under selling pressure.
Morning Update: Nifty trades tepid note
The benchmark index Nifty were trading 11 points lower at 11,570 on Friday. Domestic equity index Nifty were trading on tepid note which swung between gains and losses in the morning session head of key macroeconomic data scheduled to be released later in the day today.
Shares of UPL, Sun Pharma, NTPC and UltraTech Cement emerged among the biggest gainers, jumping more than 1% each. Wipro, Bharti Airtel, JSW Steel, IOC, ITC were among the biggest losers, shedding up to 2.5% each. Infosys shares were trading marginally higher ahead of the Q1 results scheduled to be reported later today.
Meanwhile, the market breadth was neutral, with 722 stocks advancing, 742 stocks declining, and 110 stocks remaining unchanged.
