Domestic benchmark index Nifty closed 132 points higher at 11,168 on Monday. The NSE Nifty posted massive rally by ending the session at 6-month high, up over 1 percent on the back of sustained buying in auto, metal, consumer goods and banking stocks amid a pre-poll rally following the announcement of 2019 general election dates.

Market Update: Nifty rise over 1% led by auto & metal stocks

The benchmark index Nifty were trading 112 points higher at 11,147. Indian equity market continued to surge higher after opening gap up on Monday. Sector-wise, most of the sectors were trading in the green while Nifty metal was the top performer, up 2.37 percent led by Coal India, Jindal Steel and Sail, along with heavyweight stocks helped the key index on a higher note.
