Closing Bell: Nifty ends below 10,500-mark on start of the Q1 earnings

The NSE Nifty 50 ended at 11,498.0, down 0.49 percent on Wednesday. Indian equity benchmark extended decline after a day break and ended lower below 10,500-mark on the start of the Q1 earnings.

Yes Bank, Coal India and Sun Pharma are the top gainers, while Bajaj Finance, Tata Motors and Tata Steel are the biggest losers.

Except Nifty Pvt Bank all the sectoral gauges compiled were trading in the red. Nifty Realty is the biggest loser, down 1.71 percent.

Market Update: NIFTY extends volatile trading

The broader NSE Nifty 50 fell 0.2 percent to 11,531 on Wednesday. The Indian equity benchmark extends the volatile trading for the second day and hovering around 10,500 mark.

Six Out of 11 sectoral gauges compiled by NSE traded lower, led by the NSE Nifty Metal Index’s 0.96 percent decline.

The market breadth was tilted in favour of sellers. About 877 stocks declined and 745 shares advanced on National Stock Exchange.
