Closing Bell: The NSE NIFTY 50 Index fell 1.36 percent to settle at 10858.25 on Wednesday. Indian Equity benchmark NIFTY fell sharply and below 10,900-mark dragged by financials and IT stocks after the rupee hit a new low in today’s trading session.

All sector gauges compile by NSE barring NIFTY METAL ended lower led by NIFTY AUTO, NIFTY IT, NIFTY PVT BANK, NIFTY FMCG, NIFTY BANK and NIFTY FIN SERVICE indexes as top losers.

From the NIFTY50 basket of shares M&M, EICHERMOT, INFRATEL, TCS and AXISBANK ended as top losers while YESBANK, HINDALCO, IBULHSGFIN, HINDPETRO and VEDL are top gainers.
