My Answer in my view is stock market is useful to provide a structured and regulated exchange where investors can safely buy and sell of equity shares.
we need stock market to regulate and control the transactions which take place on day to day activities
Companies raise money by issuing shares to the public through IPO, if those shares needs to be traded again i.e., sold/bought we needed a common platform where it can be exchanged with ease, that is nothing but a Stock Market (Secondary Market).
